Moomoo has introduced real-time deposit access for eligible US users through Visa and Checkout.com, allowing account funding through Apple Pay and Google Pay.

The move expands funding beyond standard bank transfers for users of the trading and investment platform.

Under the arrangement, eligible customers can add money to their Moomoo accounts at any time using an eligible debit card linked to a digital wallet. Those deposits can then be used for investments in stocks, cryptocurrencies, exchange-traded funds, options and event contracts, subject to fund availability.

The change adds a card-and-wallet-based option to a platform that has largely relied on traditional transfer methods. It also reflects a broader shift among retail investment apps toward instant funding tools that match the speed consumers expect in other areas of digital finance.

Funding access

The updated system uses Visa's payments network alongside Checkout.com's payment infrastructure within the app. Users select Apple Pay or Google Pay as the deposit method and complete the transaction with an eligible debit card already linked to their wallet.

This removes several steps compared with manual bank transfers, particularly outside standard banking hours. Eligible users can make deposits 24 hours a day, seven days a week, although actual timing depends on the receiving financial institution and region.

The rollout also gives Moomoo another feature to support activity outside the traditional trading day. The platform already offers 24/5 trading in eligible US stocks and exchange-traded funds and has been widening the range of products available on the app.

In recent months, Moomoo has added Web3 wallet integration, API-based tools for agentic investing and prediction markets through a partnership with Kalshi. The latest funding change sits alongside those additions as it seeks to keep users active across more market types and longer trading windows.

Neil McDonald, Chief Executive Officer of Moomoo U.S., said the new payment routes respond to demand from retail investors for faster account funding.

"Investors expect the same speed and execution in their investing experience that they access through other market-leading digital products," said McDonald.

"Expanding our funding capabilities through Visa and Checkout.com makes it easier for users to quickly move money into their Moomoo accounts when they are ready to invest. Combined with the expanded market access and AI-enhanced investing tools on the Moomoo platform, this collaboration marks a transformative step in giving investors greater control over how and when they put their money to work," he said.

Payments push

For Visa, the deal is part of a broader effort to move more trading- and investment-related money flows onto its network. Consumer finance apps and brokerage platforms have become a growing target for payment companies seeking volume beyond retail purchases.

Jakub Petri, Vice President of Business Development and Partnerships at Visa, said investment apps had changed how customers transfer money in and out of accounts.

"Digital investment and trading platforms across the globe have transformed the way consumers move funds in and out of their accounts," said Petri.

"We're extending that real-time experience to account funding, giving investors on the Moomoo platform a secure and convenient way to fund their accounts through Apple Pay and Google Pay, powered by Visa's global network," he said.

Checkout.com, which provides payment processing for online businesses and financial technology groups, is supplying the infrastructure used in the app flow. It has been seeking a larger role in financial services use cases where speed of settlement and user experience affect conversion and activity levels.

Jim Cho, Vice President of Revenue Growth in North America at Checkout.com, said the pace of investment decisions had raised expectations around digital money movement.

"Investors need digital financial experiences that are fast, intuitive and able to keep pace with their portfolio decisions," said Cho.

"Our collaboration with Moomoo and Visa represents an essential step in providing the infrastructure investors need to move money at the same pace that they make decisions in a market that is increasingly 24/7," he said.

Moomoo also highlighted a cash sweep rate of 3.6% APY for eligible uninvested cash for new users, with a temporary promotional rate of 8.1% APY for two months after activation. Those funds remain available for investment immediately.

The real-time deposit option is limited to eligible users and depends on fund availability from the underlying financial institution and the user's region.
