M&T Bank and RDC.AI have won the Editor's Choice award at the 2026 Banking Tech Awards USA, recognising their work on credit monitoring and portfolio insight in commercial and business banking.

The project brought together M&T's commercial, business banking, risk and technology teams with RDC.AI, a banking analytics software provider. It focused on improving how the bank tracks credit quality, spots emerging risks and supports client discussions across its lending portfolio.

At the centre of the project is RDC.AI's Portfolio Intelligence platform, now integrated into daily workflows in M&T's commercial lending operations. The system uses predictive analytics to help teams identify relevant signals across portfolios while reducing the volume of alerts presented to bankers.

The aim was to give staff clearer, more consistent information on portfolio performance and risk. It was also designed to highlight potential issues earlier, giving teams more time to plan and respond.

Credit focus

The recognition reflects a wider push among banks to apply analytics more directly to lending oversight, especially in commercial and business banking, where relationship managers and risk teams handle large volumes of client and portfolio data. In that environment, lenders have been trying to refine early warning systems so bankers are not overwhelmed by signals that do not require action.

M&T is one of the larger regional banks in the eastern United States, with a branch and ATM network stretching from Maine to Virginia and Washington, DC. Its use of RDC.AI's software places the project in a part of the banking market where institutions are seeking better portfolio visibility without replacing the judgement of frontline lenders and credit teams.

Peter D'Arcy, Head of Commercial Banking at M&T Bank, said: "This recognition reflects the strength of our partnership with RDC.AI and the progress we've made in advancing our credit monitoring capabilities.

"By embedding more timely, data-driven insight into our workflows, we are better positioned to support our clients with informed, forward-looking guidance."

Operational use

RDC.AI said the bank has woven the platform into lending operations rather than treating it as a separate analytical layer. That matters because many banking technology projects struggle to move from pilot use into routine decision-making by relationship managers, risk officers and portfolio teams.

The Editor's Choice category at the Banking Tech Awards USA is intended to recognise projects that show execution and measurable effect in live banking environments. Here, judges highlighted work tied to day-to-day credit monitoring and portfolio management rather than a standalone digital product launch.

Ada Guan, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of RDC.AI, said: "M&T Bank has integrated our platform into its commercial lending operations in a way that delivers meaningful insight to frontline teams.

"The award highlights the impact of combining advanced analytics with practical application in commercial banking.

"The recognition underscores the value of turning innovation into outcomes for clients."

For RDC.AI, the win gives visibility to a product set aimed at business and commercial banking, including early intelligence, review and renewal recommendations, lead and limit analysis, portfolio insight and merchant lending tools. The company says its software is used by banks globally and is built around explainable artificial intelligence and models that can be adjusted through user input.

For M&T, the award reflects a technology investment tied to a core part of its business. Commercial lending remains relationship-driven, but banks are increasingly under pressure to identify stress in borrower portfolios sooner and equip frontline staff with clearer information when they engage with clients.

The platform helps teams focus on the signals that matter most and supports more targeted conversations across portfolios.
