WiseTech Global has connected Delta Cargo to its CargoWise Carrier Connectivity Program, expanding its air cargo integrations in North America.

The direct data link allows freight forwarders using CargoWise to plan, book, confirm and manage Delta Cargo shipments in real time from within the platform. Delta joins other North American airline connections on the system, including American Airlines and Air Canada.

Delta Cargo, the air freight division of Delta Air Lines, operates through the airline's passenger network, which covers more than 300 destinations across six continents. The new connection gives freight forwarders access to that broad belly cargo network.

For CargoWise users, the integration provides live access to Delta Cargo schedules, rates and available capacity as customer enquiries arrive. Forwarders can also tailor bookings by commodity, configure routing options and amend bookings without leaving the platform.

North America focus

The move adds to WiseTech's push to deepen its position in the North American air cargo market. North America accounts for almost a quarter of the global cargo industry by cargo tonne-kilometres, according to figures cited by the companies.

The carrier connectivity program is designed to give freight forwarders a single route into a wider airline network through one integration. WiseTech says the system is used by 23 of the world's 25 largest freight forwarders, while its broader customer base includes more than 20,000 logistics companies and other industry participants across 193 countries.

The integration also gives Delta Cargo a structured digital channel into the large freight forwarding groups already working on CargoWise. For airlines, the model reduces reliance on manual booking processes and supports live data exchange across commercial and operational workflows.

Peter Penseel, President, Delta Cargo, said: "Ensuring that Delta Cargo services are easily accessible wherever freight forwarders prefer to work is at the heart of our digital strategy. By connecting directly to CargoWise, we're expanding the ways customers can access Delta Cargo services through the platforms they use every day, providing the real-time visibility and reliability our customers expect. This integration is a natural next step in making Delta Cargo easier to do business with and delivering a more seamless customer experience."

Live booking

Air cargo booking has historically involved a mix of emails, phone calls and separate systems, particularly when checking rates and space availability. Direct connections between airline cargo systems and freight forwarding software have become more common as carriers and intermediaries seek to cut delays and reduce rekeying of data.

Here, the connection allows forwarders to act on live availability and pricing from Delta Cargo as customer requests come in. That matters in air freight, where capacity and rates can shift quickly and booking changes often need to be made at short notice.

Jorre Cobelens, Vice President, Logistics Data, AI and Connectivity, WiseTech Global, said: "By integrating with Delta Cargo, we have created a live commercial connection between two operating environments that together serve the largest freight forwarders in the world. Access to Delta's live data enables forwarders to act on capacity availability and rates at the moment it matters, while Delta Cargo benefits from the efficiency of real-time digital connectivity across its operations. This is how digital infrastructure should work: creating tangible value for every party in the transaction."

WiseTech has been building out CargoWise as a central operating system for freight forwarders, customs brokers and other logistics groups. The airline connectivity program forms part of that wider strategy by embedding carrier booking and shipment management into the same environment used for broader logistics execution.

The latest addition reflects continued competition among software and airline groups for a larger share of digital air cargo workflows, particularly in major markets where large forwarders want direct access to carrier data within the systems they already use.

Delta Cargo operates one of the sector's largest belly cargo networks, spanning more than 300 destinations across six continents through Delta Air Lines' passenger network.
