Trust wins fourth EcoVadis Gold sustainability rating
Trust has received an EcoVadis Gold sustainability rating for the fourth consecutive year, placing the digital accessories company in the top 5% of businesses assessed by EcoVadis over the past 12 months.
EcoVadis assesses how companies integrate sustainability into their operations and management systems. Trust said the latest rating reflected progress in product design, sourcing, operations and governance, despite stricter assessment criteria.
The company was recognised for its performance in four areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. It also highlighted work linked to the Science Based Targets initiative, the UN Global Compact and the Business Social Compliance Initiative.
EcoVadis noted Trust's use of documented actions and defined key performance indicators to track its sustainability work. Examples included increasing the use of more sustainable materials and reducing material consumption through process optimisation.
The award comes as manufacturers and consumer brands face growing scrutiny over supply chains, material use and emissions. Third-party sustainability ratings have become a common tool for companies seeking to demonstrate progress to customers, retail partners and corporate buyers.
Trust sells digital lifestyle accessories in 50 countries through local retailers, electronics chains, department stores, hypermarkets and online channels. Founded in 1983, the group has built its business around accessories for laptops, gaming devices, tablets, desktops, smartphones and televisions.
Assessment areas
The latest EcoVadis score highlighted areas that are increasingly central to supplier reviews and procurement decisions across many sectors. Environment and sustainable procurement, in particular, have gained prominence as companies face pressure to gather more detailed information on product inputs and manufacturing practices.
For Trust, the rating also serves a commercial purpose by helping it respond to customer demand for more transparent supply chains and clearer sustainability claims. Buyers in both consumer and business markets are placing greater emphasis on evidence-backed reporting as regulation and due diligence standards evolve.
Plans for the coming year include cutting energy consumption, extending carbon footprint reduction efforts in high-volume product groups and updating policies to reflect changing rules and industry standards. Trust also plans to continue aligning its sustainability reporting with a recognised reporting framework.
Dorothee de Backer, Head of Product & Marketing, described the latest rating as a marker of recent work across the business. "We're extremely proud to earn the EcoVadis award for the 4th time in a row," she said.
She added: "It reflects the strong progress we've made, particularly in the environmental arena, with our continued focus on making our products more durable and sustainable. This achievement would not have been possible without close collaboration with our partners in the supply chain, and it inspires us to keep doing the right thing by investing in sustainability and continuing on this journey."
EcoVadis is widely used by companies to compare sustainability management standards across suppliers and business partners. Its methodology reviews policies, actions and results, so repeat ratings can indicate whether a company is maintaining or improving its internal systems over time.
Trust's fourth consecutive Gold rating suggests it has maintained that level despite tighter scoring requirements. The company added that EcoVadis had highly commended its performance across the four assessed categories.
