WaveMaker has launched a new mobile app studio in collaboration with AT&T, aimed at empowering influencers to create their own branded mobile-first wireless businesses.
The new influencer app studio provides advanced engagement tools and embedded wireless features tailored to the needs of influencers and their followers. The studio is designed to support influencer-led mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) by enabling fast and customisable mobile app experiences built for scale.
The collaboration forms part of AT&T's broader strategy to support emerging wireless disruptors and enhance customer engagement through culturally relevant mobile channels. The integration with AT&T's high-performance MVNx application programming interfaces (APIs) enables influencers to incorporate wireless capabilities directly within their mobile apps.
Vikram Srivats, Chief Commercial Officer at WaveMaker, highlighted the unique challenges of building consumer-focused influencer apps. "Creating engagement and appeal with the TikTok and Instagram generation of users is a high bar for any new consumer mobile app. And it's no different for an influencer branded app with embedded wireless plans – even if the influencer has millions of followers," he said.
He added: "The app studio product addresses the holy trifecta of conceiving and engineering a brand embodied app with allure, doing it in days and weeks as opposed to months, and being able to deploy and sustain it at consumer scale without heavy IT investment."
William Traylor, Vice President and Head of AT&T's MVNx Product, 5G Platforms and Ecosystem, described the partnership as a significant move for influencer commerce. "As AT&T continues to evolve and tap emerging distribution opportunities with digital disruptors, we see tremendous potential in enabling influencers to create new, additional value for their followers by offering 'embedded wireless' within their branded experiences," he said.
Traylor continued: "WaveMaker's app studio launch is a big leap forward, providing robust UI/UX flexibility for emerging MVNx players using AT&T's class-leading 5G network."
The influencer app studio employs the React Native framework and WaveMaker's own AutoCode artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, which enable automatic generation of user interface elements directly from Figma design files. These capabilities allow influencers and their teams to assemble mobile apps quickly, leveraging out-of-the-box features such as feeds, premium content, events, sweepstakes, merchandise, engagement streaks, and integrated phone plan purchasing and checkout.
App creators can also access a range of customisable themes, fonts, colours, and design templates. This is intended to help influencer MVNO brands launch their offerings more rapidly, establish visual and functional differentiation, and streamline the technical demands of maintaining mobile services.
WaveMaker's focus on providing an experience-as-a-service model is designed to lower the barriers for influencers venturing into the mobile wireless sector. The company aims to allow creators to move from concept to market-ready apps in weeks rather than the prolonged development cycles often associated with bespoke app development.
The new platform also supports influencers in managing their communities, offering tools for content delivery, event management, promotional campaigns, and direct sales through merchandise or digital services. These features are bundled within a mobile package that supports embedded wireless plans through AT&T's 5G network integration.
