Sage X3 gains Copilot, AI agents & smarter automation

Wed, 4th Feb 2026

Sage has announced a set of AI-focused updates to its Sage X3 enterprise resource planning software, adding a new Copilot feature, agent-based sales monitoring and expanded automation for accounts payable.

The company said the changes target mid-sized, product-centric organisations that manage finance, sales and supply chain operations across multiple sites and regions. Sage positioned the update around faster access to operational signals inside everyday workflows.

Sage X3 is part of the vendor's broader software portfolio for accounting, finance and business operations. The platform serves manufacturers, distributors and other organisations with complex inventory and order processes.

In the announcement, Sage also referenced external research on AI adoption. It cited McKinsey's 2025 State of AI report, which said 88% of organisations use AI in at least one area. The same report said 62% are experimenting with AI agents, while 23% have scaled them in at least one area.

"Running complex operations today means decisions need to be made faster and with better information," said Rob Sinfield, SVP, ERP, Sage. "With these updates to Sage X3, we're embedding intelligence directly into everyday workflows across sales, finance, and supply chain, so teams spend less time searching for answers and more time acting on what's happening. It's about giving businesses the visibility and confidence they need to respond when things change."

Copilot Additions

Sage introduced Sage Copilot for X3. The company described it as a conversational interface inside the product. Users can ask questions in natural language and receive contextual responses based on business data held in Sage X3.

Sage also added a Sales Intelligence Agent for X3. The company said this agent monitors signals across orders, inventory and customer demand. It also issues alerts related to issues such as overdue orders, delayed shipments and declining customer demand.

"Mid-sized businesses are under pressure to respond faster across sales, finance, and supply chain, and they need insight where decisions are actually made," said Paolo Arcangelo, Services Director - Sage X3 & Sage Intacct - Datel. "By embedding intelligence directly into everyday workflows, Sage X3 helps teams move from reactive problem-solving to more proactive ways of working."

Sage said Sage Copilot for X3 and the Sales Intelligence Agent are available globally.

Payables Automation

Sage expanded its accounts payable automation features for Sage X3. The company said the updated AP automation uses AI-driven document capture, classification and vendor matching.

Sage linked the AP changes to reduced manual invoice processing and fewer errors. It also pointed to faster approvals and shorter month-end cycles. Sage said the AP automation update is available globally.

Supply Chain View

The update also includes Sage Supply Chain Intelligence. Sage described this as connected supply chain functionality that provides visibility from purchase order creation through to delivery.

The company said the feature supports collaboration with suppliers and earlier identification of fulfilment risks. It also tied the feature to reduced stock-outs and improved reliability.

Sage said Sage Supply Chain Intelligence is available to early adopters in the US.

Reporting And Builder

Sage has launched Sage Business Reporting for Sage X3, a solution designed to integrate real-time data directly into Excel while facilitating self-service analysis.

According to the company, the product features AI-assisted insights to streamline the report-building process, specifically aiming to minimise the burden on IT departments for everyday reporting requirements. This new tool has been released for customers on a global scale.

Furthermore, Sage has introduced several platform enhancements, most notably updates to Sage X3 Builder. The platform now incorporates AI-driven features intended to assist partners and customers with bespoke tailoring and configuration tasks.

By implementing these changes, Sage intends to simplify the configuration process and decrease the time required for teams to learn how to extend the platform. Like the reporting tool, these updates are now available worldwide.

Partner Focus

The vendor also outlined how it expects the update to land with its partner ecosystem, which includes consultants and services firms that implement and customise Sage X3 for customers.

"When I speak to our partners, I hear a real ambition to grow their organizations and play a bigger role for their customers," said Gretchen O'Hara, EVP Strategic Partnerships and Business Development, Sage. "This next phase of Sage X3 helps make that possible by bringing intelligence directly into everyday workflows, so partners can add value earlier and more consistently. With agent-driven insight, Sage Copilot and a platform that is easier to extend, partners have more opportunity to build differentiated services, deepen industry expertise, and create long-term, sustainable growth."

Sage said the new features roll out across Sage X3 with a mix of global availability and limited early access for supply chain intelligence in the US.
