Fluent Commerce partners with Intelo.ai to enhance AI logistics

Fri, 15th Aug 2025

Fluent Commerce and Intelo.ai have announced a partnership to integrate artificial intelligence agents into Fluent Commerce's order management system.

The collaboration focuses on enhancing the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction of businesses using Fluent Commerce's platform. This is particularly significant for organisations operating in an environment where geopolitical uncertainty and increases in tariff policies in the United States are affecting costs.

Integration points

The integration will use Intelo.ai's suite of AI agents to drive improvements in four main areas within the supply chain and fulfillment network.

Firstly, shipment consolidation will be addressed through the Shipment Consolidator Agent. This tool can reduce split-shipment rates from around 17% to below 10%. Lowering split shipments is expected to reduce freight expenditure, lessen customer frustration, and decrease the environmental impact of deliveries. The agent works by simulating optimal single-box fulfillment, analysing deviations from these ideals, and recommending inventory placement adjustments, such as moving stock between distribution centres to minimise the likelihood of split shipments.

Secondly, the Fulfilment Distance Optimiser Agent is designed to help businesses minimise average shipping distances and the associated zone-based carrier costs, without affecting delivery speed. This agent prioritises stock-keeping units (SKUs) and locations that incur the highest shipping distance costs, running micro-simulations to reposition safety stock. The aim is to output an Inventory Placement Plan that ensures just-in-time inventory at the most beneficial locations.

The third area is managed by the SLA Guardian Agent, which seeks to prevent orders from missing delivery targets defined in service level agreements (SLAs). It achieves this by identifying and pausing under-performing nodes in the network before SLA breaches occur, analysing fulfillment event data, calculating throughput deviations, and automatically updating network routes and configurations in the platform. Users are notified of any changes and estimated restoration times.

Finally, the Dynamic Buffer Curator Agent is built to continually adjust minimum and maximum stock levels, safety stocks, and display-only inventory quantities at each item-location combination. This helps to reduce both out-of-stock situations and unsold or stale inventory, improving inventory turnover by aligning stock levels with demand and service-level cost forecasts.

Executive perspectives

"Our partnership with Fluent Commerce represents a significant leap forward in intelligent order management," said Jeff Fish, Co-CEO at Intelo.ai. "By connecting our AI agents directly into Fluent's industry-leading OMS, we are providing businesses with real-time, actionable insights and automated capabilities that will transform their fulfillment operations, leading to substantial cost savings and improved customer experiences."

Nicola Kinsella, Chief Strategy Officer at Fluent Commerce, commented, "We are thrilled to partner with Intelo.ai to bring these advanced AI capabilities to our customers. This collaboration underscores our commitment to providing the most innovative, AI-powered order management solutions on the market. The integration of Intelo.ai's agents will empower our customers to make smarter, more proactive decisions, ultimately driving greater efficiency and profitability."

Operational modes and platform impact

The new integrated offering will be available in both recommendation and automated modes. In recommend-mode, business users will receive alerts and return-on-investment insights via familiar communication platforms including Slack and Microsoft Teams. The auto-mode enables the AI system to directly trigger transfer orders in a customer's Warehouse Management System or Enterprise Resource Planning solution, further reducing the need for manual intervention in inventory management and fulfillment processes.

Companies making use of Fluent Commerce's order management system include multinational retailers and brands across various sectors. These enhancements are expected to be taken up by firms seeking measurable improvements in logistics orchestration and customer delivery experience.

The partnership is positioned to address common pain points in inventory and fulfillment, providing flexibility for businesses to either receive expert recommendations or allow fully automated actions via integrated AI agents. The parties believe this will help organisations adapt to current economic pressures while meeting service commitments and sustainability targets.
