Celonis, Genpact launch app to boost supply chain efficiency

Wed, 2nd Jul 2025

Celonis has announced the launch of the Genpact Transportation Costs and Performance app, developed to assist supply chain leaders in optimising transportation networks, increasing efficiency, cutting costs, and managing carrier performance.

The application, developed by Genpact and powered by the Celonis Process Intelligence platform, has been introduced in response to ongoing challenges facing global supply chains. These challenges include geopolitical instability, uncertain trade policies, labour shortages, rising capital costs, and increasing efficiency demands. The new app is intended to address issues that arise from fragmented systems and disconnected technologies, which often hinder real-time decision-making and make it more difficult to monitor carrier performance.

Organisations working in supply chain management regularly encounter partial data, siloed processes, and delayed insights—all factors that contribute to higher operational costs, delivery delays, inefficiently managed carriers, and a diminished customer experience.

"The Genpact Transportation Costs and Performance app empowers supply chain leaders with end-to-end visibility and understanding of transportation processes. Reimagining how transportation is managed, it delivers tangible value using Process Intelligence to uncover and eliminate inefficiencies, while optimizing carrier performance and laying the foundation for AI success," said Neel Patel, Lead Solution Manager, Supply Chain at Celonis.

The functionality of the app is based on merging data from various supply chain source systems. Process Intelligence acts to unify this data and provide actionable insights for users.

"Celonis Process Intelligence unifies data from supply chain source systems and brings them together in a way that allows users of the Genpact Transportation Costs and Performance app to make smarter decisions," said Mathias Vaupel, Supply Chain Service Line Director at Genpact.

The Genpact Transportation Costs and Performance app utilises the Celonis Process Intelligence platform to consolidate process data from Oracle Transportation Management systems, but it possesses the flexibility to integrate with other transportation management system platforms as well. This feature allows for an extended scope, with the option to bring in warehouse management, enterprise resource planning, and other logistics-related data.

Key features and tools

The app creates a digital twin of supply chain operations, covering phases from shipment planning and tendering to final delivery and returns. Users can benefit from several core capabilities:

  • Enhanced on-time delivery through root cause identification and resolution in delays regarding lanes, suppliers, modalities, or sites.
  • Reduction in transportation costs through proactive planning, resource management, spot freight oversight, and policy adherence, supported by real-time alerting.
  • Boosted carrier performance by analysing supplier delay costs and service level agreement breaches, enabling improvements and better carrier alternatives.
  • Optimised load management to ensure more consistent truck loads, fewer empty trips, and adaptability in response to fluctuating load volumes or carrier capacity.
  • Improved route planning to identify and address inefficient distribution routes and develop more effective truck utilisation strategies.

The suite includes a number of analytical and operational tools. The Process Explorer feature enables users to visualise all interconnected logistics processes from sales order through to fulfilment, identifying anomalies and quantifying their impact. The Transportation Cockpit acts as a central dashboard, presenting key metrics and enabling detailed analysis.

Other functions include detailed monitoring of on-time delivery and collection, overall order cycle time, and lane analysis to highlight areas requiring attention. Carrier performance is assessed thoroughly, looking at operational metrics such as tender acceptance rates, response times, on-time pickups, and dwell times at loading or unloading sites. The automation capability highlights manual processes that could be automated using Celonis' low-code Action Flows.

Proven supply chain impact

According to Celonis, a global consumer packaged goods company has deployed the application to address increasing transportation costs and a reduction in on-time delivery rates across approximately 700,000 annual shipments and 200 carriers. The company's usage highlighted excessive dependence on expensive spot freight, largely due to underperforming or under-capacity contracted carriers.

By leveraging insights from the app and redesigning its carrier management strategy, implementing governance controls, and reducing early spot usage, the company now expects savings of up to USD $6 million, along with a 15% improvement in on-time delivery rate. Real-time alerts now flag non-compliance and inefficiencies before they escalate.

The Genpact Transportation Costs and Performance app is available through the Celonis Marketplace, with the company reporting that it is being adopted by major corporates seeking to build more agile and resilient supply chains.
