Agoyu wins patent for AI moving quotes app in Puerto Rico

Fri, 10th Apr 2026

Agoyu has secured a patent for its real-time moving cost estimation and marketplace-matching technology, used in its Puerto Rico-based moving marketplace app.

The patented system uses artificial intelligence to create moving inventories from video scans of rooms and household items. It then estimates weight and volume and returns up to 25 quotes from licensed movers within minutes.

Based in Dorado, Agoyu serves customers globally. It describes the patent as formal protection for the software behind its quoting and matching process in a market where estimates have often relied on slower surveys and in-person visits.

How it works

Users upload video scans of their belongings through the app. The software analyses the images, builds an inventory and uses that information to calculate projected moving costs.

The matching feature then connects users with moving firms vetted by the platform. Agoyu says this can cut a process that previously took days or weeks down to minutes.

The company also says its AI is open source and publicly available for consumers to use and interact with. That is an unusual position for a business that has also sought patent protection for part of its technology stack.

Industry focus

The moving sector has long faced customer complaints over unclear pricing, changing final bills and the time required to gather estimates. Digital comparison tools have emerged to address some of those issues, but many still rely on manual inputs or follow-up inspections.

Agoyu says its software is designed to address inaccurate cost estimates, slow pricing and fragmented processes across the industry. It also says the platform could be used by corporations managing employee relocations, as well as by moving companies seeking new customers.

Bill Mulholland, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Agoyu, said, "Our team set out to solve a major pain point in the moving industry by tackling slow and inaccurate estimates and fragmented processes. Securing this patent validates our AI-powered technology and reinforces Agoyu's mission to digitise the moving industry while delivering a safer, more accurate and more efficient experience for both consumers and industry partners."

Market position

According to Agoyu, consumers can use the system to receive cost estimates without hidden fees or unexpected price changes, while moving firms can reduce the need for in-person estimates. Employers could also use the technology to support staff relocations.

Agoyu operates in a segment of the logistics and household services market where AI tools are increasingly being applied to pricing, scheduling and customer service. The patent may help distinguish its approach as competition grows among digital marketplaces for home services.

The business says the patent strengthens its position in real-time estimation and marketplace matching as it develops its app-based service for residential moves in Puerto Rico and the US.
